First hosted in 1979, Wake Up The Earth Festival is a Boston area institution. In the words of event organizers, this festival serves as “a celebration of what can be accomplished when people of all traditions, cultures, ages, and beliefs come together.” Community groups, artists, local vendors, and related organizations participate in this beloved festival each spring. Another top event in Jamaica Plain is the Lantern Parade. Held at Jamaica Pond, residents of all ages create lanterns using recycled materials, and walk with them in a stunning nighttime parade.
